Position 4 – Midfielder
Arsenal doesn’t need just one midfielder. A playmaker as Özil’s long-term replacement and a CM to play in Ramsey’s position. It’s hard to get young plus experienced ones, in reality though.
The ideal choice: Julian Draxler (Paris Saint-Germain)
Draxler hasn’t been playing well these days under his compatriot Tuchel and according to rumours, he is possibly one of the players to be released at the end of the current season.
Draxler is a CAM who can also play as a winger. He is a two-footed player and can possibly suit Emery’s playing style. PSG, though, will seize the opportunity and raise the price for the German. Not looking good for Arsenal.
The realistic choice: Hakim Ziyech (Ajax)
The Moroccan has been the mainstay of the current, successful Ajax squad these days. In his prime, he is known for scoring goals, giving assists (it’s what Mesut Özil does best) and taking free-kicks.
Surprisingly, he can be a real bargain for the Gunners to consider. According to SPORTbible, 25 million is what they need to pay to seal the deal. He’s worth a shot although a player with PL experience is preferred.
The one from the Academy: Emile Smith-Rowe
On loan at RB Leipzig at the time of writing, ESR is one of the Arsenal youngsters to look for. With the vision, creativity and other attributes, ESR should be able to gain more playing time after the loan in Germany.
